Katie Stackhouse
Artist Biography

Katie Stackhouse's meditative prints invest the fresh mark of the hand with an inquiring gentleness into the natural world, often referencing botanical and figurative imagery as a metaphorical pivot. Opulent inks of ochres and reds resonate with eloquent and organic lines to produce a sensual surface. Strong yet delicate, these works successfully achieve a calmness and quiet harmony within the internal landscape of the print.

Born in Tasmania in 1978 Katie Stackhouse completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Hobart between 1996-1999.
Following her graduation she made a 16 month Art Pilgrimage through Europe pausing to work at Print-workshops in Germany, Spain and The Netherlands.
Whilst in the Netherlands she became a working artist at the prestigious Laurierstraat Grafisch Atelier in Amsterdam as well as at the Rietveld Academy. Upon her return to Australia in 2002, she has produced numerous works including those shown in "Ten Days On The Island" and PG Printmaker Gallery.
